How Vetted Works

Step-by-step guides for workers getting a badge, employers verifying staff, and guarantors confirming identity. If you have a question not covered here, email admin@vetted.ng.

Workers

Getting your Vetted Badge

Everything from choosing your badge tier to sharing your credential with employers.

  1. Step 1

    Choose your badge tier

Visit /worker/onboard and select Full Badge (NGN 1,500). A Full Badge includes identity verification, a selfie verification check, and a guarantor — the strongest signal you can give an employer.

Basic Badge (NGN 800) skips the guarantor step. You can upgrade later.

  2. Step 2

Read and accept the consent terms

Review what data Vetted collects and how it is used. You must confirm each mandatory item before continuing. Your NIN is only shared with a NIMC-licensed verification provider.

  3. Step 3

    Complete payment via Paystack

Pay securely using your debit card, bank transfer, or USSD. Your payment is processed by Paystack and you will be redirected back automatically once confirmed.

  4. Step 4

    Complete guided identity verification

Open the guided verification flow to enter your user details, verify your NIN against the NIMC database through a licensed provider, and complete biometric liveness in one place.

Vetted stores only a verification token — your raw NIN does not appear on the badge.

  5. Step 5

    Finish the biometric check

Use your device camera inside the guided flow to complete liveness and image matching against the verification record.

  6. Step 6

Add a guarantor (Full Badge only)

Enter the name, phone number, and relationship of your guarantor — a former employer, pastor, family member, or community leader. They will receive a WhatsApp or SMS link to confirm your identity.

Your badge is issued at the Basic tier while awaiting guarantor confirmation. It upgrades automatically once they confirm.

  7. Step 7

    Receive your Vetted Badge

Your badge link is issued immediately after verification. Share it on WhatsApp, send it to employers, or save it to your phone. The badge is valid for 12 months.

Workers

Using your dashboard

How to sign in, share your badge, respond to complaints, and renew.

  1. Step 1

    Sign in to your dashboard

Go to /auth/login and enter the phone number you used to register. You will receive a one-time code via SMS to confirm your identity.

  2. Step 2

    Share your badge link

Your dashboard shows your badge link and a WhatsApp share button. Tap it to send your badge directly to any employer in a chat.

  3. Step 3

    View and respond to complaints

If an employer files a report against you, it will appear in your dashboard as pending. You have a right-of-reply window to respond with your version of events before any admin review.

  4. Step 4

Renew your badge before it expires

Badges are valid for 12 months. When your badge is near expiry your dashboard will prompt you to renew at NGN 800.

Employers & Agencies

Verifying a worker

From the free registry check through to a live-presence verification and incident filing.

  1. Step 1

    Create an employer account

Go to /employer/register and enter your business phone number. You will receive an OTP to confirm and be taken to your employer dashboard.

  2. Step 2

Run a free registry check (no account needed)

Anyone can check a worker's phone number at the homepage registry before creating an account. This shows confirmed incidents only — no badge details.

  3. Step 3

    Open the worker's badge link

Ask the worker to share their badge link via WhatsApp or copy it directly. Opening the link shows live identity status, badge tier, guarantor signal, trust score, and incident context in one view.

  4. Step 4

    Run a live-presence check (paid)

From your employer dashboard, start an agreement with the worker. A live-presence check prompts the worker to confirm in real time that they are physically present, adding a dated record to their badge.

This requires a paid employer check (NGN 2,500) or an active Pro plan.

  5. Step 5

    Log an incident if needed

If you have evidence of a workplace issue, go to your dashboard and select the worker to file a structured report. Attach supporting files. The worker is notified and given a right-of-reply before admin review.

Employers & Agencies

Sponsoring a worker badge

How to pay for a worker's full badge so they carry a portable credential from day one.

  1. Step 1

Find the worker you want to sponsor

From your employer dashboard, go to Sponsor a Badge and enter the worker's phone number.

  2. Step 2

    Pay the sponsorship fee

The sponsorship fee is NGN 2,500. Payment goes through Paystack and covers the worker's full badge verification.

  3. Step 3

    Worker completes their badge

The worker receives a link to finish their NIN verification, selfie, and guarantor steps. Once complete, the badge is theirs permanently — not tied to you as the employer.

Sponsored badges are fully portable. The worker keeps the credential even after they leave your employment.

Guarantors

Confirming a worker's identity

What happens when a worker names you as their guarantor and how to respond.

  1. Step 1

    Receive the confirmation request

When a worker adds you as their guarantor, you receive an SMS or WhatsApp message with a confirmation link. No app download or account is required.

  2. Step 2

    Review the worker's details

The link opens a page showing the worker's name and the relationship they listed. Confirm this matches who you know.

  3. Step 3

    Confirm your identity with NIN

You can upload a document — such as a reference letter, government ID, or a photo — to strengthen the guarantor confirmation.

  4. Step 4

    Confirm your guarantee

Tap Confirm to complete the process. The worker's badge upgrades to Full tier automatically. Your name and relationship are recorded on their badge as the guarantor signal.

You can decline if you do not recognise the worker or do not wish to act as guarantor.
